Add a knowledge source

Connect a document, site, or file so agents can learn from it.

Updated 2026-07-23

A knowledge source is a document, website, or drive folder that agents can read from when they answer questions or complete a job. Add one for anything you want agents to reference — a policy, a price list, a set of product pages — and attach it to as many agents as you like.

Add a source

  1. Go to Knowledge and select Add Knowledge Source.
  2. Choose a source type — Google Drive, OneDrive, SharePoint, Websites, or File Upload.
  3. For a cloud drive or SharePoint, paste the file's link and pick the connection that can reach it; for a website, enter its URL; for File Upload, drag a file in or browse for one.
  4. Add a description so agents know when to use the source. For a cloud drive or SharePoint source you can also set its name here; websites and uploaded files are named automatically, and you can rename them afterwards from the source's Details tab.
NoteWebsites can't currently be added if they require signing in — stick to pages anyone can open without a login.

Once you finish, the new source appears in your Knowledge list with a Status of Active.

TipDon't have a connection for the drive you need yet? Set one up first from Connections — the wizard offers it once it's there.

Common questions

Can more than one agent use the same knowledge source?

Yes. Once a source is added, attach it to as many agents as you like from each agent's Overview tab — see Knowledge sources and connections for agents.

What happens to a source after I add it?

It's kept up to date automatically, and you can also set it to expire — see Sync and expiry.
