Fix connection issues

Reconnect an expired account and check why a connection isn't working.

Updated 2026-07-23

A connection can stop working if the account it's authorised under changes its password, revokes access, or simply expires. Contrata flags this so you can fix it before it blocks a job.

Spot the problem

  1. Check the Status column on the Connections list: Active, Inactive, or Expired.
  2. Open the connection and look at its Configuration tab. An expired one shows a Connection expired warning; a recent failure appears under Last Error.
  3. Check the Actions tab to confirm the actions a workflow or agent needs are still allowed here.
TipThe Jobs tab on a connection lists every job that has used it — check there first if you're not sure what's affected.

Reconnect it

When a connection has Expired or otherwise stops working, open it and select Restore access (or Reconnect account). This control only appears when a connection isn't Active. It signs you back in through the provider's own window, and your existing Allowed Actions carry over unchanged.

NoteSetting a connection to Inactive pauses it without disconnecting the account — useful while you investigate, since it stops new use but keeps everything ready to switch back on.

Common questions

Why did a job fail if the connection shows Active?

The account status can look fine while a specific action fails — check Last Error on the Configuration tab for the detail behind it.

Do I lose my Allowed Actions if I reconnect?

No. Reconnecting only refreshes the sign-in — your selected actions stay exactly as they were.
