What is Contrata?

A plain-English tour of the ideas behind Contrata.

Updated 2026-07-23

Contrata runs your team's repeatable processes for you. You describe the process once as a Workflow, and Contrata carries it out on schedule — checking systems, preparing documents, chasing responses — and pauses to ask a person whenever judgement is needed.

The five ideas to know

  • Workflow — a process you've set up, shown as connected steps on a canvas.
  • Job — one run of a workflow. If a workflow runs every morning, each morning creates a new job.
  • Agent — an AI team member that does a step's work, such as drafting a summary or checking records.
  • Connection — a secure link to a tool you already use (like SharePoint or your email), so agents can work in it.
  • Knowledge source — documents or pages you give agents to learn from, so their answers reflect your organisation.

Where people fit in

Contrata never locks people out of the process. Workflows can include a Human review step: the job pauses, the right person is asked to review or decide (in the app or over WhatsApp), and the job carries on once they respond. Every job keeps a full record of what ran, what was found, and who signed off.

Common questions

Do I need to be technical to use Contrata?

No. Building a workflow is drag-and-drop, and most teams start from a ready-made template rather than a blank canvas.

What happens when something goes wrong?

The job is marked Failed or Action required, the right people are notified, and you can see exactly which step needs attention.
